 AB    OBJECTIVE: To integrate the fight against HIV/AIDS into existing
       activities in all sectors of technical cooperation. METHODS: The
       integration started with the discussion at the central level.
       Subsequently a process was developed to prepare all partners for the
       integration of activities to fight HIV/AIDS. The preparation and
       implementation of a plan of action with each project followed. RESULTS:
       Until now about 40 plans of action outside the health sector are under
       implementation in 4 countries. Further plans in the same and additional
       countries are in preparation. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: The integration
       of the fight against HIV/AIDS in projects outside the health sector is
       possible. Few additional funds are needed and the acceptance by
       different sectors to implement this task is encouraging.
